Study - Diet and Diverticular disease link

A recent conclusion to an 11 year study has identified a lower risk to diverticular disease when consuming a vegetarian diet compare to a meat based diet.

This study of 47 033 people over the UK over the time period of 11years concluded individuals whom consumed a vegetarian diet and dietary fibre intake had a 31% lower risk diverticulitis compared to meat eaters and low fibre intake.

Often termed as a "disease of western civilisation" as it more prevelant in developed countries. It has also been considered as a "fibre deficiency disease" caused by the consumption of refined carbohydrates and low fibre intake.
